Sutton’s last performance of Anything Goes
was amazing.
When she made her entrance and was supposed to say “He’s wrong Billy it was only me” she had literally only gotten out the words “He’s wrong” and EVERYONE started cheering and screaming for her.
You’re The Top was hysterical as usual. I miss Colin being there, but Sutton and Bill English have amazing chemistry.
Friendship was hilarious and sad. At the beginning when Reno and Moonface stand there and look at each other Sutton made the worlds saddest face and started tearing up. She also started getting really emotional in the middle of the song which was so sweet. How close Sutton and Joel are is apparent. At the end of the song when they face each other and dance a little bit Sutton and Joel both went crazy and started dancing wildly which was so funny and adorable.
Anything Goes (the song) is always breathtaking and so full of energy but Sutton was really bringing it tonight. You could tell she was just trying to really enjoy her last show and have the best time she possibly could. She was so incredible and had the biggest smile on her face. The applause was awesome, people clapped at 6 different parts of the dance.
Blow Gabriel Blow was stunning. Probably the best I’ve seen it. She was just so incredibly fierce tonight. The audience started cheering like crazy, so Joel motioned to the audience to keep clapping and cheering, so we did, and then he did it again but more obviously and Sutton saw him and started cracking up. The applause went on for soooo long.
Curtain Call: The audience stood and cheered like crazy for Sutton. She had a huge smile on her face and she looked incredibly grateful for all of the applause she was receiving. Joel went and stood beside her and asked everyone to sit down for a minute. He said “As most of you know, this is Sutton’s last show with us” *some audience members gasp, because they didn’t know* Then Joel says “she is taking a leave of absence because she is going to have my baby” * Sutton cracks up and tries to stick her belly out, but lets face it she’s in incredible shape, she has no belly, and she rubs it* Then Joel said “yeah we really didn’t have that much time left before people would know” (laughing at the fact that sutton has no belly) Joel said that Sutton leaving was bittersweet. He said something along the lines of he was proud of her but he was going to miss her like crazy *insert hug* Then he said he has been incredibly lucky and has worked with so many amazing women such as bernadette peters, kristin chenoweth, Idina menzel, etc and then something along the lines of how he will never work with someone who means as much to him as working with sutton did (something like that, I can’t remember the exact wording).
Then he told Sutton that the cast had a song for her and the orchestra started playing friendship and the cast sang “if you’re ever in a jam, here we am” (sutton laughed so hard when they said “here we am”) and then they sang “if we ever need a pal, you’re our gal” and then they sang “it’s friendship, friendship just the perfect blendship when other friendships have been forgot, ours will still be hot” and then just joel said “lahdle adle adle quack quack quack” and then the ensemble said “its chug chug chug!”
Sutton laughed and then hugged Joel and she was crying a little, but she wasn’t hysterical.
Then she took a final bow and the audience went nuts. Some former AG cast members came onto the stage during all of this and Julian Havard was there and he had a little camera and was recording the audience cheering for Sutton. It was adorable.
